The café is open every Thursday year round from 1:00-5:00 pm as well as by appointment.
Groups, such as company outings or birthday parties, are also very welcome.
The food that the cafe serves includes lunch menus, such as homemade bread with lamb and mutton cold cuts, and coffee and cake.
By appointment, we can also compose a menu of your choice.
The café is the setting for many exhibitions by various artisans, artists and photographers, and is also the setting for various working workshops with needlework, weaving, felting and knitting.
The lamb and local produce comprise the groundstone of the country kitchen at Lystbækgaard. The moor is a pantry for Nordic sheep and lambs.
The moor has become rarer and this type of natural landscape is disappearing in many places due to overgrowthand lack of management and use.
If you are on a walk, you can see the sheep grazing the extensive moors at Trehøje, Tihøje, PræstbjergNaturcenter inHerningMunicipality, and a flock at StrandhedenGjelleroddeclose to the town of Lemvig.
Through the years, the sheephave been developed as a tool for eating small trees, grasses, heather and even rose hip bushes. Their natural diet gives flavour to the meat.
With regular grazing and burning, the heather rejuvenates and the biodiversity in the moors is restored many times over, with numerous different flowers and, thereby, as rich variety of insects.
